One single image has sparked public outrage on social media this year representing the extreme end of the endearing Christmas tradition of a united family bonding and love.

In order to address her family exclusion one grandmother decided to purchase matching Christmas pyjamas.

The story didn’t start to circulate until a family friend chose to post the picture on social media.

The image featured the step-grandchild standing at the end in last year’s frayed pair of pyjamas while the biological grandchildren were all wearing brand-new vibrantly coloured ones.

The caption expressed disgust at her behaviour which clicked with viewers and swiftly went viral. There was an explosion of hateful criticism in the online community.

Many reprimanded the grandmother for her insensitive and cruel actions.

“How can someone be so overtly dismissive to a child’s feelings?” one commenter wrote.

This is not about PJs but about what those represent,” another said. “The exclusion is heartbreaking.”

“Whether the child chose the old pajamas or not, the grandmother should have made them feel included,” said one social media user.
