Information gathered indicates that TikTok plans to shut down its app in the U.S. on Sunday, January 19.

When the ban goes into effect, the app will no longer function, even if it is already installed, and users will be redirected to a website.

Reports say that the shutdown will take place on Sunday when a federal ban is scheduled to go into effect unless there is a last-minute reprieve.

Donald Trump whose term starts the day after a ban would begin is reportedly considering issuing an executive order to halt the implementation of a shutdown for 60 to 90 days according to the Washington Post.

The report didn’t explain how Trump could do it legally.

Theoretically, users who have already downloaded TikTok could still use it but the law also prohibits U.S. businesses that began offering services on Sunday to facilitate its distribution upkeep or updating.
