A Lagos-based TikTok user, @queenlatina08, whom media can identify simply as Lateefah, has claimed she resigned from the Customer Fulfilment Centre (CFC) at the United Bank for Africa (UBA) after two years owing to depression.

In a video Lateefah shared on February 2, she said she left the job that week after working for almost two years and did not have the mental health to continue.

Her caption read, “I decided I wasn’t going again. I don leave the job for who get mental health. Worked for almost two years till I got depressed.” In the video, she can be seen wearing a branded UBA T-shirt.

When other users asked her if she could resign without giving notice, she said the company sacks staff similarly, and she could do the same.

She also said many were stuck working at the CFC because of their salaries. “Our mental health really matters,” she added.

Reacting to the video, several users who say they worked at the bank at different times claimed they experienced ill-treatment as staff.

They said they had no career growth opportunities and faced regular threats.

A day after the video went public, Lateefah shared a screenshot of a message she received.

The message reported threats from a supervisor to fish out the bankers who commented on Lateefah’s video.

The message read, “Una mama come office today oo, and she said she’ll fish everyone in the whole building that made a comment on your post.

She come dey threaten us on top. Even HR came today, that we were thinking they’ll come and do something about it. Instead, their focus is why the post was made and the comments, not the actual reason behind the post. God help us oo.”

In separate posts, Lateefah said her boss once referred to staff as ‘Ekuke’, an Igbo word for local dog.

KeepLoss earlier reported how staff anonymously reported workplace harassment to management via a March 28 email.

A week after that report, the management let go of up to 10 contract staff and denied them access to the premises.

It was gathered that ICS Outsourcing Limited, one of the companies that recruits staff for the UBA CFC, had begun interviewing staff to find out who sent the email. UBA management also searched the official computers of staff in a bid to uncover the whistleblower.
