A statue of the Virgin Mary was filmed weeping two days before the Pope’s death, it’s been claimed.

Footage, filmed at a church service in Columbia on Good Friday, shows the statue with tears running down her face, say witnesses.

The video was shared on social media and quickly went viral, with many claiming it was a miracle.

It was recorded during a Sermon of the Seven Words at St John Eudes Parish, in Aguas Claras, in the department of Norte de Santander.

The ‘Sermon of the Seven Words’ refers to the seven sayings of Jesus Christ in the New Testament, which he reportedly said during his crucifixion.

Posting under the video one person wrote: ‘It’s a miracle, how beautiful.’

Another said: ‘She’s really crying.’

Speculating as to why she was ‘crying’, a third speculated: ‘It’s a sign that God doesn’t like human evil, and that’s why our mother cries in silence.’

The Diocese in the nearby town of Ocana has so far not issued an official statement regarding the alleged miracle.

Pope Francis died at the age of 88 on Easter Monday.

He had spent weeks hospital with an infection, pneumonia and difficulty breathing.

But he had recovered enough to give a traditional Easter Sunday blessing from the balcony of St Peter’s Basilica after meeting US President JD Vance.
