The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has presented video footage showing former Head of Service, Winifred Oyo-Ita, calmly writing her confessional statement, countering claims that it was obtained under duress, KeepLoss reports.
The footage was submitted on 30 June 2025 during a trial-within-trial before Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Abuja.
EFCC’s lead witness, Chief Superintendent Hamma Adama Bello, said the video proves Oyo-Ita voluntarily gave her statement during 2019 interrogation, without any form of intimidation.
Oyo-Ita, along with her aides, Ugbong Effiok and Garba Umar, and six companies, is facing charges over alleged diversion of over ₦3 billion through fictitious contracts, kickbacks, and abuse of Duty Tour Allowances and estacodes.
EFCC traced millions to companies allegedly linked to her, including ₦124m to Frontline Ace Global Services and ₦600m to an aide’s account.
The court adjourned to 14 and 16 October 2025 to decide on the admissibility of the confessional statements.
