A mother of four, Zainab Buhari, has taken her husband, Babangida Ibrahim, before a Sharia Court sitting in Rigasa, Kaduna, State, accusing him of subjecting her to inhumane and degrading treatment.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Zainab told the court that her husband constantly beats her and neglects the family, often leaving her and their children without food.
“He grabs my neck to suffocate me, squeezes my breasts hard and demands sex,” she told the court.
“I take care of our children’s school fees, feeding, clothing, and other needs. Whenever I run to my parents, they beg me to return to my matrimonial home,” she added.
The defendant, Babangida Ibrahim, denied all the allegations leveled against him.
Presiding over the case, Judge Malam Salisu Abubakar Tureta, directed Zainab to present her witnesses at the next hearing.
The case was adjourned for further proceedings.
