Special prayer to be observed in honour of late Buhari at National Mosque

A special prayer will be held in honour of the late former president of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari at the National Mosque in Abuja, the nation’s capital city.

Politics Nigeria gathered that the special prayer will take place on Friday, July 18, 2025, in honour of the late Buhari.

Bashir Ahmad, a former spokesperson to the late ex-president confirmed this in a post on his social media accounts.

Ahmad also stated that aside from prayers at the National Mosque, prayers will also be observed in several Juma’at mosques across the country in honour of the late former president.

“Today, a special national prayer will be held in honour of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari at the National Mosque in Abuja, as well as in many Juma’at mosques across the country.

“We pray that Allah (SWT) accepts him, forgives his shortcomings and grants him eternal peace in Jannatul Firdaus,” Ahmad wrote.

Recall that former president Buhari passed away at the age of 82 at a private London hospital.

He died after a brief illness and was buried on Tuesday, July 15, at his private residence in Daura, Katsina State.

His funeral was well attended by families, friends, and political associates.

Also in attendance were President Bola Tinubu, his vice Kashim Shettima and former vice president Yemi Osinbajo among many other leaders.
