Nollywood actor and filmmaker, Yul Edochie, has sparked public discourse following a recent Facebook post about Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
On July 17, Edochie shared a photo of Kanu with a brief but striking caption that read:
“Mazi Nnamdi Kanu will return home soon.”
The post, though short, quickly gained traction online, drawing a flood of reactions. While many supporters of the pro-Biafran leader welcomed the message with optimism, others questioned the motive behind the statement and its timing.
Edochie offered no additional context or clarification, which led to speculation among the public. Some wondered if he was privy to confidential information, while others believed he was simply voicing hope.
Nnamdi Kanu has been in custody since 2021 and is currently facing serious charges, including terrorism and treasonable felony. His detention has remained a contentious issue, particularly in Nigeria’s South-East, where he has a large following. His prolonged trial has also led to several protests and calls from public figures for his release.
Yul Edochie’s post went viral, attracting thousands of reactions across social media. Many users posed questions, asking if he had insights into any new developments or contact with President Bola Tinubu.
