Anambra PDP gov’ship candidate Ezenwafor shot, survives assassination attempt

Chief Jude Ezenwafor, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the upcoming Anambra State governorship election has survived an assassination attempt in Abuja.

According to reports, unknown gunmen attacked and shot Ezenwafor on Friday night around the Wuse 2 area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) while returning home from an appointment.

Ezenwafor is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital in Abuja, from which he spoke to newsmen on Saturday.

Speaking to journalists from his hospital bed, the visibly shaken Anambra State PDP governorship candidate described the incident as a close shave with death.

“I am currently in the hospital. The doctors are making efforts to operate me so that they can pull out bullets from my body,” Ezenwafor said in a faint voice.

The politician’s media team has also confirmed that their principal sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was quickly rushed to the emergency unit following the attack.

Ezenwafor used to be a presidential aspirant under the Labour Party (LP) but he decided to return to the PDP.

The PDP recently confirmed him as the party’s flagbearer for the Anambra State governorship election scheduled to take place later this year.
