Super Falcons and Pachuca Femeni striker, Chiwendu Veronica Ihezuo, is eyeing the WAFCON 2024 Golden boot prize, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 28-year-old came off the bench in Nigeria’s first two WAFCON 2024 games to find the back of the net, and added her third of the competition in the Super Falcons 5-0 win over Zambia.

Now unto the semi-finals, Ihezuo wants to score as many goals as possible to help Justin Madugu‘s side accomplish Mission X.

“First of all, thanks to God for today’s victory and for the efforts of my teammates,” the ex-Monterrey Women’s forward said in her post-match interview with Ademola Victor.

“I’m speechless. After three goals, my aim is to keep scoring, to keep going, to not give up.

“The team inspired me, my morale is so high when I scored, I didn’t know how to celebrate because I was overjoyed.”

“I want the Nigerians to keep supporting us with everything they have and we promise not to let them down. We will make them proud,” Ihezuo concluded.

Ihezuo is just one goal behind the WAFCON top scorer. Morocco’s Ghizlane Chebbak and Senegal’s Nguenar Ndiaye lead the charts with four goals each.

The Super Falcons will play against the winner of the quarter-final tie between South Africa and Senegal. The game will be played later today, with kick-off time set for 8:00 PM WAT.
