The youth wing of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has strongly condemned the recent remarks by Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, describing them as an “assassination threat” against Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party.

Governor Okpebholo had warned that Obi should not visit Edo State without seeking his permission and obtaining security clearance.

The comment has sparked widespread outrage and was captured in a viral video.

Reacting, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, through a statement issued on Saturday by its National President, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, said the governor’s comments were dangerous, undemocratic, and completely out of line for a public official.

“This is not just an uncouth and shocking remark from a sitting governor—it amounts to an assassination threat on Mr. Peter Obi,” the group said.
