The federal government has raised the alarm over a fraudulent student loan application portal being circulated online in the name of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).

In a public advisory issued on Tuesday via the verified X handle of NELFUND, the agency urged students, parents, and guardians to disregard the fake site and only use the official platform for interest-free student loan applications.

The post read: “Please be advised: A fake NELFUND student loan portal is being circulated online.

“To all students, parents, and guardians, the ONLY official website for interest-FREE NELFUND applications is: 👉 http://nelf.gov.ng.

“Don’t fall for scams. Avoid clicking on suspicious links. If in doubt, verify before you act.”

The warning comes amid rising demand for student loan access following the launch of the federal government’s education finance scheme designed to support students in tertiary institutions.
