Kenyan lawmaker Duncan Wangama, Member of County Assembly for Wusi Kishamba Ward in Taita Taveta County, is facing unimaginable grief following the loss of both his wife and newborn daughter just days apart.
Wangama had only just laid his wife, Stella Wangama, to rest on Thursday, July 17, 2025, in a deeply emotional funeral ceremony. Tragically, three days later, their newborn daughter, Judy, also passed away.
Local reports indicate that Stella died in the early hours of July 8, barely a day after delivering her daughter via caesarean section. Though the procedure was initially successful, she developed post-surgery complications that claimed her life.
The baby, who had been named Judy, survived for nearly two weeks but died on Sunday, July 20. She was buried the following day, Monday, July 21.
The devastating double loss has left the MCA shattered. Heart-wrenching photos shared online showed the grieving lawmaker in tears, surrounded by mourners trying to console him during the baby’s burial.
Wangama is now left to navigate an immense personal tragedy, as tributes and condolences continue to pour in from colleagues and members of the community.
