President Bola Tinubu will meet with governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Presidential Villa, Abuja tonight.

The closed-door meeting is expected to produce a consensus candidate for the position of national chairman of the party.

The meeting comes ahead of the APC’s National Executive Committee (NEC) session scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 24, 2025, at the State House Banquet Hall.

The engagement brings together members of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), led by Hope Uzodimma, governor of Imo state.

Uzodimma is expected to lead 23 APC governors to the meeting, which party insiders have described as “crucial,” given the recent developments within the party.

As of press time, Lagos governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Ekiti governor Biodun Oyebanji had arrived at the venue ahead of their counterparts.

Tinubu is expected to brief the governors on key federal policy directions and ongoing consultations on the emergence of a new party chairman following the resignation of Abdullahi Ganduje last month.

Decisions reached at tonight’s meeting will largely shape the direction and outcome of Friday’s NEC session, where major leadership and organisational matters are expected to be tabled.
