Oyo Assembly to commence 6 weeks working recess Aug. 1

 Lawmakers in the Oyo State House of Assembly will commence on a six weeks working recess from Aug. 1 to Sept. 16.

The Speaker of the House of Assembly, Mr Adebo Ogundoyin, who disclosed this during Tuesday plenary, said that the recess was to enable lawmakers have their annual legislative  break.

“The break is in accordance with the Assembly’s legislative calendar.

“Members are to continue working from their various constituencies and homes,” he said.

Ogundoyin appreciated the lawmakers for their commitment to legislative duties since January and added that the recess would enable lawmakers to engage more closely with their constituents .

“The recess will also help in assessing the level of developmental projects across their respective constituencies.

“This break is essential for lawmakers to reconnect with the grassroots, monitor ongoing government projects, and gather feedback that will shape legislative interventions in the second half of the year,” he said.

The speaker said that the Assembly had passed several critical bills and resolutions aimed at supporting the policy directions of Gov. Seyi Makinde’s administration.

Ogundoyin said that these were especially in areas of education, healthcare, youth empowerment, and rural development.
