A distressed mother has publicly accused a pastor of allegedly withholding her baby’s placenta after delivery, claiming the act is behind her child’s inability to speak or function normally since birth.
The emotional testimony was shared in a video posted by TikTok user @tboss8167. In the clip, the woman recounted the troubling experience that began during her pregnancy. She said she had been persistently ill and was advised to seek spiritual help at a church led by a woman known as “Iya Michael.”
“I was always sick while pregnant, and they said the only solution was at Iya Michael’s church. When I arrived, they gave me a white cloth and soap to bathe with. After using them, I felt better within two days,” she narrated.
According to her, she later gave birth at a mission house affiliated with the church. However, after delivery, suspicions began to arise about the spiritual practices of the church leaders.
“The woman who helped me give birth refused to return the baby’s clothes, saying I had registered the birth with her. All the baby items were kept at the church’s altar,” the mother added.
She explained that she went into labor around 9 p.m. and delivered the child by 4 a.m. Her husband was initially handed the placenta, but when he brought it to the church to offer thanks, the pastor allegedly stopped him and insisted the placenta be buried within the church premises reportedly a common practice for births conducted there.
The mother believes this event is connected to her child’s condition, as the child has not been able to speak or perform basic functions since birth.
The video has since gone viral, sparking outrage and concern among Nigerians online, many of whom expressed disbelief and demanded justice in the comment section.
