Nigerian singer Timi Dakolo recently posted a video on Instagram that resonated with many parents navigating the challenges of raising teenagers.
In the clip, Dakolo attempts to enforce bedtime rules by collecting his children’s phones for the night. As he asked each of them if they had surrendered their devices, his daughters complied, but his son was more reluctant, sparking some resistance.
The teenagers, clearly displeased with the imposed phone curfew, began protesting. They gave various reasons why they should be allowed to keep their phones overnight some claimed they needed them for listening to gospel music, while others insisted they were using them to study.
Despite their arguments, Dakolo stood firm on his decision, refusing to lift the restriction.
Expressing his frustration in the caption, the singer wrote:
“Talk to me again when you start raising teenagers. In this era, parenting teens requires real superpowers.”
The post struck a chord with many parents online, who shared similar experiences and struggles in the comment section.
