Former Kashere Vice-Chancellor Prof. Alhassan Gani Dies at 66

The Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, has confirmed the death of Professor Alhassan Mohammed Gani, a lecturer in the Department of Biological Sciences and former Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Kashere.

Professor Gani died in the early hours of Sunday, July 27, 2025.

In a statement signed by the university’s Registrar, Kabiru Garba Aminu, the institution said it received the news with “rude shock.”

“The Management of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi had received with rude shock, the sad news of the demise of Prof. Alhassan Mohammed Gani,” the statement read.

“The Vice-Chancellor, on behalf of Management, Senate, staff and students of the University pray that the Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him Jannatul-Firdaus.”

The university also extended condolences to the late professor’s family and the university community.

“May He also give the family and the entire University Community the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss,” it added.

Details of the burial arrangements will be announced later.
