Nigerian music star Tobechukwu Victor Okoh, widely known by his stage name Peruzzi, has opened up about the frequent comparisons between his voice and that of iconic singer Innocent Ujah Idibia, popularly known as 2Face Idibia or 2Baba.
Over the years, fans and music lovers have often noticed a striking similarity in their vocal delivery, especially in Afrobeats and R&B-infused tracks. Many listeners have speculated that Peruzzi naturally sounds like 2Baba, the legendary voice behind timeless hits such as African Queen and If Love Is a Crime.
Addressing the viral conversation in a recent episode of the Afrobeats Intelligence podcast with Joey Akan, Peruzzi clarified that the resemblance is no coincidence. He revealed that he intentionally picked up some of 2Baba’s vocal techniques during the period he spent with the veteran.
“People always say I sound like 2Baba sometimes. Truth is, I actually learned it while I was with him,” Peruzzi admitted with a smile.
