Professor Muhammad Sani Bello has resigned from his position as Commissioner for Information, contradicting the state government’s earlier claim that he was sacked.

In a letter addressed to the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Bello stated that his exit was voluntary. He, however, did not cite specific reasons for his decision.

This development comes on the heels of a statement released on Tuesday by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Uba Sani, Malam Ibraheem Musa, announcing that Professor Bello had been relieved of his duties and replaced by Alhaji Ahmed Maiyaki, the then Managing Director of the Kaduna State Media Corporation (KSMC).

While the government gave no clear reason for the supposed dismissal, it noted that Professor Bello had initially served as the pioneer Commissioner for Education under the current administration before being redeployed to head the Ministry of Information.

Governor Sani, in the official statement, expressed gratitude for Professor Bello’s contributions and wished him success in his future endeavours.
