Kano Govt Vows to Tackle Soil Erosion in Gwarzo

The Kano State Government says it is working to address the worsening problem of soil erosion in Gwarzo Local Government Area.

This was disclosed during a visit by a Federal Government team, which was received at the Gwarzo Local Government Secretariat by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Abdulmumin Garba Lakwaya, who stood in for the Council Chairman, Dr. Mani Tsoho Gwarzo.

“The Kano State Government under the leadership of Governor Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf is fully committed to putting an end to the problem of soil erosion in Gwarzo,” said Hon. Lakwaya.

After the meeting, Lakwaya took the delegation to several areas affected by erosion, including Unguwar Tsamiya and Lakwaya Main Market in Lakwaya Ward, Malamawa in Jama’a Ward, the town’s cemetery, and locations behind Getso Main Market in Getso Ward.

The leader of the federal team, Engineer Muhammad Kabir, outlined the reason for their visit.

“We are here to assess the extent of the damage caused by soil erosion and to explore lasting solutions to mitigate its impact,” he said. “After returning to Abuja, we will submit a comprehensive report and propose measures to address this issue.”

The inspection team included councillors from Lakwaya, Jama’a, and Getso Wards, the Village Head of Getso, and the Adviser to the Chairman on Information and Public Enlightenment.
