Nigerian singer and rapper, Azeez Fashola aka Naira Marley has begged his colleagues to join Naira Marley has urged music lovers and fellow artists to support him in his mission to “make Afrobeats great again.”

The singer made the statement in a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), where he wrote, “Anyways, let’s make Afrobeats great again.” This declaration comes as he continues efforts to reclaim his place as one of Afrobeats’ leading figures.

Naira Marley’s career took a major hit following allegations linking him to the untimely death of his former signee, Mohbad. The controversy sparked massive backlash online, leading to calls for his boycott within the Nigerian music space.

However, in a recent development, a court dismissed the lawsuit filed by Mohbad’s father against Naira Marley and his close associate, Sam Larry. The court ruled that there was insufficient evidence to connect either of them directly to the young artist’s death.

Meanwhile, conversations around the current state of Afrobeats have intensified in the global music scene. Ghanaian-American singer Amaarae recently argued that Afrobeats’ global momentum has slowed, stressing that the genre and African music in general needs to evolve to remain relevant.
