Why Nigerians are unappreciative of Tinubu’s reward to Super Falcons – Presidency

On Monday President Bola Tinubu rewarded 24 players on the Super Falcons team with a cash gift of $100,000, a three-bedroom apartment and an honorary national award.

The reward from to president to the female football players followed their victory at the 10th Women’s African Cup of Nations tournament in Rabat, Morocco.

While some Nigerians have commended the president for his gesture towards the team, others have also condemned the act.

However, in his reaction, Bayo Onanuga, the special adviser to the president on information and strategy said many Nigerians are comparing Tinubu’s gift to the Super Falcons and the Big Brother Nigeria reality show.

He said that some Nigerians are unappreciative of the president’s gesture towards the champions of the 2024 WAFCON tournament.

According to Onanuga, while BBNaija offer N150 million as a grand prize to its winner, the president has honoured and rewarded hard work among others.

Onanuga wrote on X, “When you remember that Multichoice, the organiser of the BBNaija reality show is offering the winner  ₦150 million grand prize, you wonder why some Nigerians are unappreciative of President Tinubu’s rewards to the Super Falcons.

“President Tinubu has rewarded excellence, creativity,  hard work, soccer artistry and the undying Nigerian spirit,” he stated.
