Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo expressed her disinterest in hosting a baby shower for her daughter, Priscilla.

Iyabo defended her colleague Lola Alao’s suggestion to throw a baby shower for Priscilla, citing her respect for her colleague.

Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has revealed that she was initially against organizing a baby shower for her daughter, Priscilla, but eventually agreed out of respect and faith.

Speaking during the event held on Sunday, Iyabo shared that she had hesitations about hosting a baby shower due to the grand celebrations they had already held for her daughter and the potential backlash from social media.

According to the actress, it was her colleague, actress Lola Alao, who suggested the idea. Though she didn’t fully agree at first, Iyabo said she couldn’t refuse Lola out of respect.

“I remember when Aunty Lola said we should do a baby shower for her. I said okay because we’ve already done so much. Since February, we’ve been celebrating her wedding. But Aunty Lola is one of those special people I can never say no to,” she said.

Iyabo explained that part of her hesitation was due to the negativity that often comes with online attention. However, she eventually had a change of heart, saying she could not hide something as beautiful as her daughter’s pregnancy.

“At first, I didn’t want it because of all the social media wahala. But then I thought—we can’t hide God’s blessing. This pregnancy is a blessing, and blessings should be celebrated,” she added.

She went on to deliver an emotional message to her daughter, urging her to live without fear and declaring that no evil formed against her would prosper.

“Priscilla, live your life without fear. God is with you. Anyone who wishes evil on another person’s child will receive that evil in return. I stand for justice, and as long as my intentions are pure, no evil plan against me will succeed.”

Iyabo’s heartfelt speech has since gone viral, resonating with fans who applauded her strength, openness, and unwavering support for her daughter.
