Rasheedat Ajibade, the Super Falcons captain, has revealed that she once hawked bottles of olive oil and soft drinks during deliverance programs held by the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM).
The 26-year-old spoke on Saturday while giving testimony at MFM’s ‘Power Must Change Hands’ programme.
Ajibade captained the Super Falcons to win the just concluded Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
The triumph is Nigeria’s 10th continental title, and Ajibade was also named the best player of the tournament.
During her testimony session, Ajibade recanted how she hawked “olive oil, kunu, and zobo drinks” at the MFM church premises before her football career.
“I was once one of those young girls out there hawking olive oil, kunu, and zobo drinks in most of the deliverance programmes, but today, I give glory to God,” she said.
Ajibade added that her mother raised her as a member of MFM, adding that the church “is the only place that I know” when in difficult situations.
“I want to thank my mother for bringing us up in this church. We were taught welfare, the Word and how to worship,” she said.
“I want to give glory to God because the journey to this point has never been easy.
“When I was in my club, this last season has been very difficult. It was a very difficult season for me. During May’s ‘Power Must Change Hands’, I was here quickly for a deliverance programme and also joined the ‘Power Must Change Hands’ programme. Then I went back to my club to round up for the season.
“It was really tough, I was going through injuries. I was going through pain and so many sorts of things. But I just came here quickly because this is the only place that I know.”
