Sadiq Gentle, a Senior Special Reporter to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf at the Kano State Ministry of History and Culture, has been confirmed d3ad.
He d!ed from injuries sustained during a violent attack by suspected hoodlums.
Information gathered revealed that he passed away this morning at Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, several days after being brutally assaulted in his home by thugs who inflicted deep machete wounds on him.
The attack, which took place on Sunday night, has sparked widespread mourning among his colleagues, friends, and political associates, while calls for justice and a thorough investigation into the incident continue to grow.
The death was confirmed to DAILY POST by a close friend of the deceased, Mujtaba Muhammad Auwal, in an emotional interview.
“It’s true, he has passed away. His condition worsened yesterday, and another surgery was scheduled for today — but Allah did not will it,” Mujtaba said tearfully.
He added, “Some thugs broke into his house on Sunday night. They stabbed him and stole his phones,” he recounted amid sobs.
Earlier reports on Monday indicated that suspected phone snatchers stormed Sadiq’s residence at night, attacking him with a knife before fleeing with his belongings.
Incidents of fatal attacks during phone snatching have become increasingly common in Kano, despite authorities’ efforts to curb the menace. Just this week, a student of Bayero University was also killed by phone snatchers in Dorayi, Gwale Local Government Area.
Authorities are yet to issue an official statement regarding the killing of Sadiq Gentle.
