
Organisers of Ballon d’Or have included just three African players in the top 30 final ranking.
The three players were impressive for their various clubs for the past one year.
The players are Egypt’s Mohamed Salah, Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi and Guinea’s Serhou Guirassy.
Salah led Liverpool to win the Premier League title and also finished as the tip scorer in the English top-flight league.
On his part, Hakimi led Paris Saint-Germain to win the UEFA Champions League, French Ligue 1 and French Cup last season.
Guirassy, meanwhile, was brilliant for Dortmund in their both their Champions League and FIFA Club World Cup campaigns. He scored against Madrid in the knockout stage.
France Football, the organizers of the Ballon d’Or award, released the nominees’ shortlist for the 2025 edition.
