Ramat, who previously served as Chairman of Ungogo Local Government Area in Kano State between 2021 and 2024, holds a PhD in Strategic Management and is described as both an electrical engineer and administrator.

In addition to Ramat, President Tinubu also nominated two commissioners to serve on the board of NERC:

“They are Mr Abubakar Yusuf, Commissioner of Consumer Affairs and Dr Fouad Olayinka Animashun, Commissioner of Finance and Management Services,”
Onanuga said.

Onanuga added that while the appointments remain subject to Senate confirmation, the President directed Ramat to immediately assume the role in an acting capacity “to avoid a leadership vacuum in the critical regulatory agency.”

Reacting to his elevation from local governance to national regulatory leadership, Ramat expressed both humility and gratitude.

“Alhamdulillah. From leading just a single LGA to now being entrusted with matters concerning all the 774 LGAs through NERC. Truly, God is great,”
he said.
