Ushie Rita Uguamaye, a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member in Lagos popularly known as “Raye,” has accused the scheme of withholding her discharge certificate in retaliation for her criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s government.
Recall that Ms Uguamaye gained public attention earlier this year after a viral TikTok video in which she criticised the Tinubu administration and described Lagos as “smelling state”
In a recent video, she alleged that her Local Government Inspector, LGI, refused to clear her for April, despite her being present on the scheduled date.
In a clip shared on Instagram on Saturday, the corps member claimed she was repeatedly instructed to “go to the back” during the clearance exercise until her file was eventually seized. She also alleged the official refused to attend to her and ordered her to leave.
According to Ms Uguamaye, she was later informed she would not be issued her discharge certificate on the grounds that she missed the April clearance, a claim she strongly denies.
“I genuinely wish I wasn’t a Lagos State corps member because it’s a waste of my time,” she wrote on social media, adding that she has decided to put the matter behind her.

Meanwhile, the NYSC has yet to respond to the allegations.
Efforts to reach its Director of Press and Public Relations, Edwin Megwa, proved unsuccessful as calls and messages to his mobile phone went unanswered.
