Paris Saint-Germain manager, Luis Enrique, has claimed it was his personal decision to drop Gianluigi Donnarumma for the UEFA Super Cup game against Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night.

He has instead opted for summer arrival Lucas Chevalier, who joined from Lille, to be his number one goalkeeper for the match.

Speaking ahead of the game, Enrique insisted he wanted a different profile of goalkeeper for the team.

“Donnarumma is out of the squad as it’s my own decision. I am 100% responsible,” Enrique said.

“I want a different kind of goalkeeper, and I made this decision. Gigio is one of the best GKs in the whole world.”

Donnarumma and PSG have fallen out after the Italian refused the offer of a new contract.

His current deal expires in June 2026, but he has been linked with a summer exit.
