At least three countries have been eliminated from the ongoing CAF African Nations Championship, CHAN.
The countries are Nigeria, Burkina Faso and Central African Republic, CAR.
This follows the conclusion of Wednesday’s fixtures in which Madagascar defeated Central African Republic and Mauritania won against Burkina Faso.
DAILY POST reports that both Burkina Faso and CAR are the latest countries to exit the tournament after losing 2-0 and 1-0, respectively.
They now join Nigeria, who were thrashed 4-0 against Sudan, to exit the tournament.
Burkina Faso, CAR and Nigeria all have one last match to play, but irrespective of the result, they are already out from this year’s CHAN.
Both Burkina Faso and CAR are in Group B and they have three points and zero point, respectively, from three games with just one match left.
Tanzania and Mauritania currently top Group B with 9 and 7 points, respectively, meaning mathematically both Burkina Faso and CAR are out of the competition with one game left to play.
As for Nigeria, they sit in bottom position in Group D with zero points after losing to both Sudan and Senegal, respectively, with one game left.
Sudan and Senegal currently top Group D with 4 points each with just one game left to play.
