Barcelona have announced that the Catalan club have received confirmation from the Spanish LaLiga that their new goalkeeper Joan García can be registered for the 2025/26 season because of captain Marc-André ter Stegen’s long-term injury status.

This latest development allows the Blaugrana to alleviate their salary cap and facilitates the registration of additional players without breaching the financial fair play regulations.

Initially, the Germany international refused to sign the medical report that Hansi Flick’s side needed to submit to the LaLiga.

Ter Stegen mentioned that his recovery from lower back surgery, which he underwent in July, would take about three months.
