An early morning heavy downpour in the ancient city of Potiskum, Yobe State, has submerged eleven areas, sacking residents.

Preliminary report and spatial analysis conducted by the State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, indicated areas affected to include – Old prison, Filin mashe, Unguwar makafi, Unguwar jaje bakin kwari, Afghanistan and Tsangaya.

Others areas are Karofi, Bayan Garejin Dan Juma, Jigawa bayan, Makarahuta and Tandari.

Although no loss of life has been recorded as of the time of filing in this report, detailed assessment by SEMA is still ongoing.

According to the agency, the state government will ensure that life saving support and protection are provided to the victims.
