Tragedy struck on Friday night, August 16 as Fresh FM Ibadan, the popular radio station founded by gospel singer Yinka Ayefele, was gutted by fire.

The incident occurred at the station’s premises in Felele, Ibadan South-West Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The alarm was first raised on social media by media personality Samuel Arugboboisi, who called for urgent intervention from the fire service. Staff members also confirmed the situation, describing it as “pathetic” while efforts were made to contact firefighters.

General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Service, Rev. Akinyemi Akinyinka, assured that officials had been deployed, while Fire Service Chairman, Maroof Akinwande, confirmed that men were already on the ground to contain the blaze.

The cause of the fire and the extent of damage remain unknown as of press time.

Founded in 2015, Fresh FM has grown into one of Ibadan’s most influential radio brands, with branches in Abeokuta, Ado-Ekiti, Akure, Osogbo and Lagos, and is widely admired for its vibrant programming and audience engagement.
