COAS reshuffles Nigerian Army high command, appoints new GOCs, PSOs

The Chief of Army Staff, COAS, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has approved the redeployment and appointment of senior officers across key command, instructional, and staff positions in the Nigerian Army.

A statement by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Appolonia Anele, said the reshuffle was part of the COAS’s strategic move to strengthen leadership and reposition the Nigerian Army for greater operational effectiveness.

She stated that some of the senior officers appointed as Principal Staff Officers at the Army Headquarters include Maj Gen AA Adeyinka, posted from Nigerian Army Corps of Supply and Transport to the Department of Army Logistics as Chief of Logistics (Army), Maj Gen AA Adekeye, moved from AHQ Department of Standard and Evaluation to AHQ Department of Personnel Management as Chief of Personnel Management (Army), and Maj Gen TB Ugiagbe, from Nigerian Army Intelligence Corps to Army Headquarters Department of Standard and Evaluation as Chief of Standard and Evaluation.

Other appointments include Maj Gen AA Idris as Chief of Military Intelligence (Army), Maj Gen MO Erebulu as Provost Marshall (Army), Maj Gen EA Anaryu as Corps Commander Supply and Transport, Maj Gen SA Akesode as Head of African Union Verification Mission in Tigray, and Maj Gen JE Osifo as Director General of Nigerian Army Finance Corporation.

New General Officers Commanding, GOCs, include Maj Gen ASM Wase at 1 Division/Joint Task Force Northwest and Maj Gen CR Nnebeife at 2 Division/Sector 3 Joint Task Force. Several Commandants of training institutions and Brigade Commanders were also affected.

The Chief of Army Staff charged the newly appointed senior officers to redouble their efforts and commitment to duty in ensuring the sustenance of the ongoing onslaught against terrorism, insurgency, and other threats to national security as they assume their new appointments.
