The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has presented a brand-new Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) to renowned gospel singer, broadcaster, and media entrepreneur, Dr. Yinka Ayefele, in the wake of the fire incident that engulfed Fresh FM 105.9, Ibadan, last Friday.
The inferno, which gutted parts of the Ayefele Music House complex at Challenge, Ibadan, destroyed property worth millions of naira and disrupted operations at the popular Fresh FM station.
The disaster sparked an outpouring of sympathy from across Nigeria, with many lamenting the setback for one of the most vibrant privately-owned radio stations in the South-West.
During the presentation of the SUV at Ayefele’s Music House on Tuesday, Governor Makinde, represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Otunba Ademola Ojo, praised Ayefele’s resilience and enduring contribution to both the entertainment and media landscape in Oyo State and beyond.
The governor described Ayefele as a symbol of perseverance and inspiration, noting that his personal story and professional journey continue to motivate millions of Nigerians. “On behalf of the Governor and the state government, we commiserate with you. You are not just an icon of the music industry but also a force in media growth. This gift is a token of support from the people of Oyo State,” Ojo stated while handing over the keys to the SUV.
Ayefele, visibly emotional as he received the vehicle, has been counting heavy financial losses following the fire outbreak. Despite the setback, the music star expressed gratitude to the state government for its timely intervention and solidarity.

Governor Makinde had earlier visited the scene of the incident a day after the inferno, where he toured the damaged sections of the Fresh FM complex and assured Ayefele of his administration’s support. The latest gesture is seen by many as a reaffirmation of the governor’s commitment to standing with individuals and institutions that play vital roles in Oyo’s socio-cultural and economic life.
The fire at Fresh FM is yet another reminder of the risks faced by media houses across Nigeria, but Ayefele’s resilience—and the state government’s backing—signal a determination to rebuild stronger.
