Oyo: Kingmakers hold maiden meeting with Olubadan-designate Ladoja

Members of the Olubadan-in-Council on Tuesday held their maiden meeting with the Olubadan-designate, Oba Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja.

DAILY POST reports that Ladoja, a former governor of Oyo State and the Otun Olubadan, is next in line to ascend the Olubadan throne following the transition of the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin.

The Olubadan-in-Council also serves as the kingmakers in Ibadan.

The kingmakers met with the Olubadan-designate at his Bodija residence in Ibadan on Tuesday.

This comes two weeks after he was nominated as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.

In a statement made available to DAILY POST on Tuesday evening, the media aide to the Olubadan-designate, Adeola Oloko, noted that those present at the meeting included the Otun Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Kola Adegbola; the Osi Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Olubunmi Isioye-Dada; the Asipa Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Abiodun Kola-Daisi; and the Asipa Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Abiodun Azeez.

Others were the Ekerin Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Hamidu Ajibade; the Ekerin Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Akeem Mobolaji Adewoyin; and the Ekarun Balogun of Ibadanland, High Chief Sharafadeen Alli.

During the meeting, the kingmakers observed a one-minute silence in honour of the late Oba Olakulehin.

In his remarks, Ladoja thanked members of the council for their support in his nomination and pledged to run an inclusive administration.

The kingmakers, led by the Otun Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Kola Adegbola, congratulated Oba Ladoja on his emergence as the next Olubadan.

Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, Adegbola told Ladoja that public expectations of his reign are very high.
