Ian Wright, former Arsenal star, has urged the Gunners to keep two key players, William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes at Emirates Stadium for life.

According to Wright, Gabriel and Saliba were the reason Arsenal defeated Man United 1-0 in their Premier League opener at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Recall that a first-half goal from Riccardo Calafiori ensured Mikel Arteta’s side defeated the Red Devils in front of their home fans.

“These two [William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes] get into my team because they have everything, everything that we had back then,” Wright said on the latest Arsecast podcast.

“We have got ‘1-0 to the Arsenal’ back because of that defence and because of those two and what they’re capable of doing.

“That is why you can go to United and play like we did and win – because of what those guys are doing at the back.

“And for me, I would pay them anything for them to stay for the rest of their careers here because they’re two of the best defenders we’ve ever had at our club.”
