The Nigerian entertainment industry has been thrown into mourning following the shocking death of Vic Matt, a respected executive producer, film director, and manager of Big Brother Naija Season 10 housemate Bright Morgan.
Born Victor Tobechukwu Okoli, Vic Matt was reportedly abducted on Friday near Ntachi Osa in Enugu State. Tragically, he was later killed by his abductors, a development that has left colleagues, friends, and fans in deep sorrow.

The heartbreaking news was first shared on Instagram by a fellow filmmaker Ben Cassie, who paid tribute to Vic Matt’s character and contributions to Nollywood. In her emotional note, she remembered him as a man of principle who stood out in an industry often clouded by politics and rivalry. In her words:
“It is hard for some of us to see those who genuinely wish us well. You always dropped words of encouragement even when I was most silent. In an industry of snakes and scorpions, you stood different. To be kidnapped and killed is a very heart-wrenching way to leave this earth. We can all live and prosper.
For all the times you made me laugh and looked out for me, thank you.
Goodnight, Vic.”
Describing him as cool, calm, intelligent, and passionate about filmmaking, Cassie’s tribute struck a chord with many who knew Vic Matt personally or admired his work.
Her post has since sparked an outpouring of grief on social media, with colleagues like Destiny Etiko, Sandra Okunzuwa among others, fans, and industry stakeholders reflecting on his legacy, his support for young creatives, and the vacuum his sudden death has created.
Vic Matt’s tragic passing highlights once again the growing concerns about insecurity in parts of Nigeria, particularly as it affects prominent figures and everyday citizens alike.
