Fire ravages residential building in Iseyin

A residential building in Iseyin in Iseyin Local Government Area in Oyo State has been ravaged by fire.

Our correspondent reports that Iseyin is one of the local government areas in Oke Ogun geopolitical zone of the state.

DAILY POST gathered that the residential located at Atake, Adebo area in Oja-Oba, Iseyin, was gutted by fire on Thursday.

It was learnt that the incident occured around 4.00 pm.

It was gathered that properties worth millions of naira were affected in the inferno.

Our correspondent learnt that no life was lost in the incident.

Chairman of Oyo State Fire Service, Hon Maroof Akinwande confirmed the incident.

Akinwande in a statement made available to DAILY POST on Friday noted that properties worth millions of naira were affected in the incident.

He added that the fire was as a result of power surge.

He said “On Thursday, 21st August, 2025 at exactly 16:04hrs , a distressed call was reported through telephone call. The agency’s officers led by ACFS Azeez Muritala quickly mobilized and responded to the scene and on getting there, it was an ancient residential building with adjoining shop met well alight.

“No casualties were recorded and the properties worth millions of naira was affected by fire. The incident was as a result of electric surge.

“The SA on Fire Reform/Chairman Fire Services Agency, Hon. Moroof Adebayo Akinwande urge the public to be conscious of fire.”
