The African Democratic Congress, ADC, has said that over 140 people have been killed in two Nigerian states, Katsina and Zamfara, over the past two months.
The party called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to declare a state of emergency in Katsina and Zamfara, similar to the action taken in Rivers State.
The interim spokesman, Bolaji Abdullahi, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.
ADC attributed its call to the escalating insecurity in Katsina and Zamfara, which the opposition coalition described as a total collapse of the national security architecture.
It claimed that over 140 people have been killed in the two states in just two months.
“Urgently declare a state of emergency in the affected states.
“Taken together, over 140 Nigerians have been murdered in just two months in Katsina and Zamfara alone,” he stated.
Barely four days ago, 50 worshippers were killed in Katsina State.
In Zamfara, bandits ambushed police and killed two operatives.
President Tinubu had, in March 2025, declared a state of emergency in Rivers State and suspended all elected officials, including the governor, Simi Fubara, and his deputy, for six months.
