Governor Uba Sani has been designing the policies and programmes of his administration to ensure that every segment of society is carried along, in line with his campaign manifesto, his Principal Private Secretary, Prof Bello Ayuba has said.
He pointed out that the Governor has provided safety nets to the poor and vulnerable, to ensure that they enjoy maximum benefits of his administration.
Explaining the philosophy of the Governor’s administration, Prof Ayuba noted that the masses are the foot soldiers of democracy and for this reason, they should be factored in every policy formulation.
Prof Ayuba stated this when the Health Services Management Board delivered medical equipment to the Unguwan Liman Ward clinic, in Zaria city at the weekend.
“Governor Uba Sani has the interest of the vulnerable and the poor at heart and will always ensure that government programmes specifically target them,” he said.
The Principal Private Secretary, who is from Unguwan Liman Ward, lamented that the people of the area had to travel some distance for the treatment of even minor ailments.
According to him, the delivery of medical equipment which included hospital beds, maternity and natal items, examination tables and screens among others, was in response to the people’s earlier appeal for the Governor’s intervention.
“Drugs and other medical consumables will soon be supplied to complement the medical equipment that have been supplied,” he assured.
Prof Ayuba also debunked claims that a road project in the area which the Governor had earlier flagged off, had been abandoned.
He explained that the state government has in in fact approved the payment of compensation to the people whose houses would be affected by the road construction, adding that contractors have been paid about 70 percent of the contract sum.
The Principal Private Secretary advised the people to dismiss the wild claims “as one of those antics of mischief makers who did not wish Governor Uba Sani well.”
The Governor’s private scribe appealed to the people to continue to exercise patience with the government as all amenities promised them will come to them sooner than later.
He also urged them to pray for the success of the Uba Sani administration to enable it deliver on its mandate of opening up the rural areas for development and also developing urban centers.
Presenting the equipment, Dr Abdullahi Sule, Zonal Coordinator, Health Services Management Board, called on the community to protect the facilities against theft and vandalization.
Dr Hauwa Mahmud, Secretary of Zaria Area Council Health Authority, while thanking the Board for the delivery, expressed optimism that the facilities will add value to health delivery services at the clinic.
Elders of the ward led by Malam Muhammad Tukur Ahmed, expressed their happiness at the response of government to their request, pleading that the facility be upgraded to primary healthcare center.
He also advised members of the community to patronize the clinic regularly as records of their patronage would guide the government on the type of additional services to provide.
