Senate Minority Leader and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Abba Moro, has said there is a possibility of Peter Obi and former President Goodluck Jonathan returning to the party’s fold.
The Benue South Senator gave the hint on Tuesday while responding to questions in an interview on Politics Today, a programme on Channels Television.
According to the lawmaker, talks are ongoing over a possible return of both men to the PDP.
“In the run-up to 2027, I am aware certain individuals have been talking to Peter Obi, ‘Hey, come back home, this is what we are likely to do, and if you come, you stand a chance of being the candidate’,” Moro said on the show.
Responding to a question about the possibility of former President Jonathan returning to PDP, Moro said, “Well, some persons are talking to the former president, to come and run, and it’s a possibility.
“But [there are] those who fear constitutionalism, based on how many times he has been sworn into office, and those who are warning it might be dangerous, but there’s nothing dangerous there.
“You recall that in 2015 when former President Jonathan wanted to run, there were cries all over the case about the constitutionality of his candidature, but eventually it was settled even by the court, that he was qualified to run, and that is why he ran.”
