Grimsby Town pulled off one of the biggest upsets in football history after they sent Manchester United packing from the Carabao Cup.

The Red Devils entered the competition in the second round, having no European engagements this season.

However, they found themselves two goals down against the League Two side in the first half.

Goals from Charles Vernam and Tyrell Warren sent the home crowd into raptures.

United pulled one back through substitute Bryan Mbeumo before Harry Maguire powered in a header in the 89th minute.

The game went straight to penalties, and after 11 spot-kicks between the two teams, Mbeumo smashed his effort against the bar.
