Champions League draw: Four teams qualify for first time

There will be four new teams when the draw for the the league phase of this season’s Champions League is conducted on Thursday.

Pafos FC from Cyprus and Norway’s Bodo/Glimt are set to make their first appearances, following impressive wins via the qualifying play-offs.

Pafos, who only came into existence 11 years ago, drew 1-1 with Red Star Belgrade to clinch a dramatic 3-2 win on aggregate.

Bodo/Glimt progressed following a 6-2 aggregate victory over Austrian outfit Sturm Graz, despite losing the second leg 2-1.

They will both be joined in the league phase by Belgian giants Union Saint-Gilloise and Kazakhstan’s Kairat Almaty, who sent Celtic out on penalties.

Kairat have become only the second Kazakh side to qualify after Astana in 2015.
