Innocent Ike has been appointed by Access Holdings as the substantive Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.
His appointment was announced in a statement issued on Wednesday by the company’s secretary, Sunday Ekwochi, following regulatory approval.
Ike assumed the role at Access Holdings more than a year after the death of Herbert Wigwe on February 9, 2024.
“We are thrilled to welcome Mr. Innocent Ike as we move forward. At the same time, we want to express our deepest gratitude to Ms. Bolaji Agbede,” Ekwochi stated.
Prior to Ike’s appointment, Ms. Bolaji Agbede had overseen the affairs of Access Holdings in an acting capacity.
The announcement comes at a time when Roosevolt Ogbonna resigned as the company’s Non-Executive Director.
Meanwhile, there is speculation of a possible internal power struggle within the top leadership of the company, which owns Access Bank.
It will be recalled that Wigwe, his wife, his son, and three other passengers died in a plane crash in California, United States, on February 9, 2024.
