Army personnel in Niger State repelled a bandit assault on their base in Babanna, Borgu LGA, leaving scores of the attackers dead.

The incident was contained in a post shared by security analyst Zagazola Makama on Friday.

The attack, Makama noted, took place at about 2:30 a.m. on Thursday when the military base was raided by a group of motorcycle-riding bandits.

“During the exchange of gunfire, scores of the bandits were neutralised. The bandits were able to evacuate nearly all the bodies, leaving a single one behind.”

According to Makama, soldiers have been placed on high alert in the area, and conditions have remained fairly stable following the attack.

Security sources assured residents that the military and other security agencies are maintaining close surveillance to prevent further attacks.
