Road accident claims life of Niger police inspector

A police officer has lost his life in a fatal crash involving a truck and a motorcycle along the Jebba–Mokwa road in Niger State.

According to sources who spoke to Zagazola Makama, a security analyst, the accident happened on August 27 at about 5:30 p.m. near Ndafu village when a truck carrying wheat flour from Lagos to Sokoto tried to overtake a motorcyclist.

The truck, sources said, rammed into the motorcyclist identified as Inspector Yahaya Ahmed, attached to Mopol 12 Minna.

He was on beat duty at Kiara Rice Mills, Kpasuwa, at the time of the incident.

“The victim sustained serious head injuries and was rushed to the University Teaching Hospital, Ilorin, where he later died while receiving treatment,” one source confirmed.

The body has since been deposited at the hospital’s mortuary for autopsy, while police say an investigation into the crash is underway.
