Troops kill 12 terrorists, seize arms in major Borno offensive

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) with the support of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and other security agencies have neutralised 12 Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists in a series of coordinated operations in Borno State.

Military sources disclosed to Zagazola Makama that the long-range tactical raids took place from August 29 to 30 in the communities of Tamsu Ngamdu, Dalakaleri, Gaza and Loskori Kura.

In Loskori Kura, the troops engaged the fighters in an intense gun battle, killing 12 terrorists.

Items recovered included six (6) AK-47 rifles, eight (8) loaded magazines and cache of assorted drugs. Some of the insurgents were seen receiving treatment for wounds sustained in the earlier clash with troops.

According to the sources, the operations had far reaching disruptive effects on the insurgents’ mobility and logistics in the area.

In recent months, the Nigerian military has escalated ground and aerial offensives across the North-East in pursuit of Boko Haram and ISWAP hideouts in the Sambisa Forest, Lake Chad Basin and the Mandara Mountains.
