Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have busted a notorious car theft ring, arresting four suspects and recovering a stolen Toyota Hiace bus in a coordinated intelligence-led operation.
According to the Command, the breakthrough followed a report received on August 1, 2025, involving the theft of a Toyota Hiace bus by one Salisu Ibrahim Abdullahi, 31. Acting swiftly, detectives from the Tactical Team in Isheri tracked Abdullahi to Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where he was arrested.
Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of three of his alleged accomplices in Kano State.
They were identified as 45-year-old mechanic Yenusa Salihu, 49-year-old car dealer Baba Jero Idris, and 41-year-old businessman Abdullahi Aliyu. The stolen grey Toyota Hiace bus was also recovered during the operation.
The police confirmed that the suspects are currently in custody and will face prosecution once investigations are concluded.
Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, praised the officers for their swift and intelligence-driven action.
He reiterated the Command’s commitment to deploying modern policing strategies to combat vehicle theft and ensure criminals face the full weight of the law.
